Last Blog Post

So...this is the LAST BLOG POST FOR ENGLISH 103!!!!!!!!!! As you can probably tell, I'm quite excited. I always forget to do these things, which has taken its toll on my grade. I am really excited for next semester...I'm taking two history classes, my speech class, math, and word origins...I love word origins. I find the subject absolutely fascinating. There are so many random words that I can tell you the origins of. So...I just got a magic eight ball from the girl down the hall. I have been asking it questions ever since I got it.  It has totally changed my life...I am going to have three children and a husband...the guy that I've been with for almost a year and a half :-) Oh...and it let me know that there weren't going to be any good movies on tonight, but there would be a good T.V. show.  So, I started flipping through the channels and found Monk!!!! I don't normally believe these kinds of things, but this is just pretty amazing right now...

Stress

So this past week has been really stressful.  I decided that I wanted to start reading a book, which probably wasn't the best idea.  I love this book and have the hardest time stopping, so of course, I haven't been doing my homework until the very last minute.  I had to study for a test for seven hours last night because I have been reading this book all week long. I really need to stop procrastinating. It would really help me manage my stress...but at the same time, I feel like I do my best work when I procrastinate. It's a really complicated situation. Overall this semester hasn't been too bad, which I'm very thankful for. I'm really looking forward to next semester...no chemistry...fewer early morning classes...psychology classes :-) I'm pretty excited.

Random

So...I don't know if we were supposed to post this week, but I figured I would because first of all, I don't want to take the chance of not getting the points, and second of all, I have nothing better to do. This hasn't been the best of weeks.  I had food poisoning on Monday.  On Tuesday, one of my roommates had some boyfriend issues. On Wednesday, I got a little frustrated with my room situation.  I almost yelled at one of my roommates, which under most circumstances I don't normally do.  I don't really like yelling.  It makes me feel like a bad person.  If I ever yell at someone, regardless of what the person has done, I have to stop myself from breaking into tears.  It breaks my heart to see someone upset because of something I did or said. I don't know...maybe I'm just weird.

Research Paper

So I found the rough draft of my research paper fairly easy to write.  Going through and finding information to use in the paper was harder.  I had to figure out how to incorporate it into the paper and be able to expand upon each idea.  I started out with an outline.  I always find it much easier to write a paper if I have an outline to work with.  I know where I'm putting information and can add things without completely messing up my paper.  It took me forever to figure out how to do a bibliography in APA style.  I've never done it before.  I think that my final draft will be pretty good.  I have some things to fix, but for the most part it looks decent.

By the way, when I was driving home, I saw a kid's shoe on the side of the road. It was a little strange.

Research Paper

I feel like the group research paper is going well. We all work together and get along. I'm excited about the topic we chose. I believe that we have good information to make a valid argument for and against college degrees. There is a lot of information on the internet and in magazines and newspapers that talk about the economy.  There are many biases about college degrees, so we have different extremist opinions, which will hopefully provide good arguments. I feel like this topic will make a good research paper. The economy is a huge topic, and as college students, we need to know what is going to be a good career.  We need to understand what could be potentially harmful and helpful when searching for jobs.

Cereal

I have never really eaten much for breakfast. Sometimes I drink some juice or milk and maybe I'll eat a granola bar. As of late, though, I have become slightly addicted to sugary cereals. Before I came to college,my mom took me out to get food to have in my dorm. I got an assortment of cereals...I think there were around thirty small boxes. There are healthy cereals and the not so healthy cereals. I enjoy the healthy ones. I do like raisin bran and mini wheats and corn flakes, but I LOVE fruit loops and...well, that's the one that I really love. I wish there were cocoa puffs, because that would be even better. Nothing is better than chocolate cereal :-)

Grades

It is a well-known fact that I am too hard on myself.  When it comes to grades, I always think that I should be doing better...even if I get an A.  It's really ridiculous to put all of that stress on myself, but that's just how I am.  Teachers have been announcing the class averages on different exams, and at times, I am absolutely appalled. When an average is 79% and teachers say that everyone did a good job, I get kind of mad.  To me, anything below an 85% is unacceptable...even if I don't study.  There are times when I know I did poorly on a test, and I expect it.  Even when I know that a test was difficult and half of the questions didn't make sense, I still should have done better.  There used to be a time when I didn't care about grades so much...I used to throw away my homework and not pay attention in class. Now, I think I take school too seriously.

Sick

At the beginning of this week, I was sick...which obviously wasn't too fun. My symptoms showed up in the middle of last week, but I didn't think much of it...I just had some coughs and headaches. On Wednesday, I woke up incredibly dizzy. I could hardly walk the entire day and had to move very slowly. According to my friend Cassie, it seemed like I was on vicodin. I decided to go into the health center and get myself checked out. I was so worried that I had pneumonia, mono, bronchitis, or something serious like that. I could feel my heart clobbering my rib cage and surrounding organs and what not...seriously, it was beating that hard. After the nurse wrote down all of my symptoms and took my temperature, the doctor came in. Do you know what she diagnosed me with? Q-tipaholicism...well, that's my word, but that's what I have. She asked me if I was a q-tipaholic, and I answered, "yes." Apparently ears are very important...not just with hearing. As many know, they help with balance. Using so many q-tips impacted my earwax or something, and then my equilibrium was thrown off. It also explains the drippings down the back of my throat, the headaches, and the violent coughs. So with my diagnosis, I left the building with the script in my hand (I realized that I left my money in my room, so I had no way to pay for the meds and what not), and it started raining. So now I probably will get sick. I can only wait until then.

Roomies!!!!!

I absolutely adore my roommates.  We all get along so well.  We go out to eat quite a few times a week and spend so much time with each other.  We constantly help each other out with pretty much everything.  I really hope we don't end up pissing each other off to the point where we don't want to be roommates...I would probably cry.  I finally have people that I can share clothes with. My sisters and I were all different sizes, making it difficult for us to wear each others' clothes.  When I feel like dressing up, I wear Brittney's clothes. I never wear Trinity's...but she wears mine every so often.  We get each other chocolate when someone isn't happy. I'm just amazed by how well this all worked out.

Weird Happenings

Okay, so every Friday when I'm walking back from Cooper, my backpack makes the strangest noise. It's only on Fridays! It sounds like a mix between a dog barking and an owl hooting.  I have three explanations for it. One: The books that I have in my bag move strangely and make that noise. Two: the combination of the books, the wind, and the way I walk cause the sound. Three: an animal jumps into my bag every Friday sometime during class. I always want to slap my bag and see what's going on in there, but I would look like an idiot! I have no idea how to silence the noise, but it makes me feel self-conscious. I'm worried that people are going to walk next to me, hear it, and ask their friends, "What is that noise coming from that strange girl?" And I have no answer!!! Then after a while, it just gets annoying, and I can't wait to take off the bag and drop it on the ground.

I Hate Indiana Weather

If you don't like the weather in Indiana, wait for five minutes and it will change.  That's what I've heard, anyway...and it's a load of crap.  For the past two or three days, I've been waiting for the heat to dissipate.  I've been waiting fairly patiently.  I give up.  I feel like I need to drink water and take a nap every three minutes.  It sucks!!!  In the winter, I have to make sure that I carry a heavy coat, boots, a scarf, flip-flops, and a bathing suit (in case I feel like swimming after a snow storm becomes a heat wave).  I'm surprised people don't carry inflatable rafts with them in the middle of a drought.  Floods lurk around every corner.
